Eating Smart Late at Night

College students and young adults who have a schedule that keeps them up late at night can go to Fuzzy's Taco Shop, in Campus Corner, for a healthy meal.
"Fuzzy's is a lot healthier for late night eating versus a pizza shop or fast food restaurant"said Kelsey Pugh, nursing senior.
Fuzzy's Taco Shop is open until 11 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday, and until 2 a.m. Thursday to Saturday.
"I like going to Fuzzy's at night because it is where most the college students gather after going out on the weekends or for a study break during the week" said Gloriana Esparza, social work sophomore.

of grilled chicken tacos at Fuzzy's Taco Shop Saturday night.
The Fuzzy's menu is low in price with no single entree costing more than $6.This is similar to prices at Taco Bell, which is also opened until 2 a.m. on the weekends however, in correlation to health, Fuzzy's exceed the Taco Bell menu because the meat is grilled or tempura and they use fresh produce. Taco Bell uses a meat tube that is only 36 percent meat.
"I prefer to go to Fuzzy's because it's walking distance from campus and it is the cheapest restaurant on Campus Corner" said Kaitlyn Jondahl, dental hygiene sophomore.

Frozen Facebook Deals

The Oklahoma weather is starting to heat up again and so are the deals at Orange Leaf frozen yogurt stores.
Advertized on their facebook page is a statement that reads, "Facebook fans get free Froyo [frozen yogurt] every day".
"The promotion recently started and we are not sure how long it will last," said Ryan Kueser an Orange Leaf employee.
When asked about the guidelines for getting free yogurt, Kueser said "You have to sign up on the page with your email address and also " like " the Orange Leaf page from your facebook, then they draw from the database every Friday and email the winner."
The facebook page now has more than eleven thousand "likes".

The soft serve yogurt from Orange Leaf is a healthy dessert compared to other ice cream shops around Norman such as Rusty's Frozen Custard or Braum's. They also offer unique flavors such as peach, pistachio, lychee and honeydew and give an option to top the frozen dessert with fruit or assorted candy.
"I like coming here before I'm about to study for a long time, I can pay by the weight and it gets me energized without a huge sugar low" said nursing student Brooklin Beasley"I don't ever feel too guilty after eating a whole carton here".
With only 90 stores in the U.S., Norman, OK is lucky to have an Orange Leaf on West Lindsey Street.

Well, "Fancy That"

Fancy That, located at 215 East Main St., looks and smells like grandma’s kitchen. It is a small bakery and cafe where some college students get home cooked meals away from home.
Stefanie Rivas, a pre-medical sophomore at the University of Oklahoma said that she loves all the different options Fancy That provides.
"I have been coming here since freshman year, and I feel like they always provide different meal options that have a home cooked feel,” Rivas said.
Fancy That is a small restaurant in downtown Norman and this year they are offering a Valentine's Day menu for the weekend before and the day of the holiday. Regardless of the baked goods, which include cake dots, cupcakes and cookies Fancy That offers healthy meal options for lunch and dinner. Rivas tried the oven-roasted salmon over pesto whipped potatoes topped with zucchini chips and red pepper sauce from the chef's seasonal menu.
"The meal was incredibly filling and I feel so much better eating salmon for lunch instead of chicken nuggets or hamburgers" Rivas said "My meal plan through the university does not offer food for the weekends so I try to eat at sit-down restaurants when I have the time."
Fancy That also states on the website that they use organic produce.
" Organic tells you for fruits and vegetables, that it was grown with only soil, water and sun and there was no pesticides used," Nutrition and Sciences Major, Scott Lockard said "This way of growing produce is a lot healthier than the alternative as long as it is USDA approved."
Avocado, zucchini, tomatoes, and strawberries are only a few of the many fruits and vegetables offered on the Fancy That menu.
“It is important that the restaurant uses organic” Lockard said, "Pesticides that are apparent in inorganic foods decrease the nutrients produce originally provides, so when students think they are being healthy they are actually not improving their diet at all.”
The seasonal menu change, organic produce and apparent amount of protein in the menu make Fancy That a healthy restaurant choice when looking for a place to eat on the weekend.
