Originally opened in 1969, The Earth Natural Café & Deli, is one of the oldest organic food store and diner in Norman. The owners want to promote having a healthy lifestyle the most natural way possible.
Organic and local produce is guaranteed at The Earth, which means the food is free of hydrogenated oils, GMO’s, and artificial flavorings, hormones and antibiotics. In addition The Earth Grocery Store at 309 South Flood has a garden compost behind it where they take their scraps and encourage the community to use it as well.
“ I don’t think I would ever make a compost of my own” said Kaley Stratton, communications sophomore, “Once a week or when I remember I take my trash to The Earth, and it makes me feel like I’m doing my part.”
The Earth offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is open seven days a week and no single item on the menu costs more than $7.50. They serve different types of quiche, burritos and various kinds of coffee for breakfast. For lunch and dinner, sandwiches that are also offered in half sizes, burgers, salads and soup.
The Earth has fresh smoothie combinations or customers can create their own and choose between flavors like strawberry, banana, raspberry, blueberry and mango. The offer organic juices as well such as: carrot, ginger, orange, pear, apple cabbage, lemon and beat.
